petpulse
UX/UI app design
Project Overview
PetPulse is an orignal app creation, that acts like a “MyChart” for pets while engaging with other pet owners. This app is meant to be a place to keep track of your pets on their daily tasks while keeping all owners aware of these updates.
For this project, I had to conceptualize an orignal app. Along with this, I had to do branding and design.

goals
Intuitive interaction
While this app is aimed at pet owners, there is no age category for the target audience. The app should be accessible with simple navigation to avoid cognitive load and frustration for the user.
Clear iconography
Iconography should be simple for the user to comprehend. With the brand having a playful and profession juxtaposition, the icons will be fun while also being instructional.
features
Keep tabs on your pets
The main function of the app is to keep updates for when you feed your pet, when they use the bathroom, etc. You can log updates on your pet that will go to all shared owners in the app to keep everyone up to date. No more worrying about overfeeding your pet.
Connect with your vet
If your vet has an account, you can make appointments with them through the app and message them as well for any quick questions.
Chat with other pet owners
There is a blog feature where owners can post questions/concerns where other pet owners/vets can respond.
Solve an untouched issue
The most popular pet apps out there cycle around having someone watch your pet, buying new pet supplies, etc. However, there is no current popular app that works are a “MyChart” for your animal.
Successfully implement all features
There are many features to be implemented in the app to have it reach its full potential. The key is to maintain a minimal layout to make all information as clear to the user as possible.
Have all pet records in one place
You can keep track of all your pet’s medical history. This would include, but not limited to: vaccines, procedures, microchip number, medical concerns, breed information, etc.
Read articles about pet health
There is a article tab where users can read news about updates in the pet world. This would include, but not limited to: new vaccines, what items are toxic for pets, new recommend items, recommended diets, etc.
Add/remove owners
You can add everyone in your household to collaborate on the app so everyone can see the updates on your pet. If you travel, you can also add pet sitters as collaborators and remove them at a later date.

A playful logo with legible text to give a fun but also professional aesthetic to the brand.
-
Baskerville helps add to the professionalism of the brand by being a classic serif. In contrast, ICT Avant Garde Gothic Pro compliments the logo in its strong, spacious structure as a san-serif.
-
The buttons show different levels of interactivity through the contrasting layouts that reflect both aspects of the brand.

Real images of different pets are used since the app is used for dealing with real life animals, this would be appropriate. The iconography plays back into the playful aesthetic by using fun icons of pets and icons associated with them.
